Sukri's, for variety in silk | Mysore

What you see – Silk sarees and loads of them. That’s what you see at Sukri’s Silk. Located on D Devaraj Urs Road, this silk emporium attracts you with the varieties of sarees on display, courtesy the glass façade of the 20-year old shop. Owned by KM Irfan, this 1,000 square feet shop has shelves brimming with sarees, salwar kameez, shawls, bedspreads and cushion covers, all spread across two floors.

What you get - At Sukri’s Silk you can lay your hands on pure silk sarees of different kinds. Mysore Silk, Kanchipuram, Dharmavaram, Banaras or even the fancy ones – you name it and you get it here. And besides the classy designer nine yards, you can even take a look at the salwar kameez and ghaghra cholis here. Pashmina shawls and stoles, silk bedspreads and cushion covers and fabric in cotton and silk are the other wares that are worth a buy here.

You could get sarees here for as low as Rs. 200 or even as high as Rs. 10,000. Mid-range ones like the printed or the fancy variety cost Rs. 2000-5000. The same goes with the salwar kameez and ghaghra cholis that have a wide range in terms of pricing. You could buy these here at a price that ranges between Rs. 1000 and Rs. 10,000. Beautiful hand-woven silk stoles start at about Rs. 300.

Our heart, however, goes with the Kanchipuram, Dharmavaram and Banaras sarees that light up your eyes with their traditional designs. And if you are particular about the right fit, you could even get your garments stitched here. The store offers tailoring facilities for both ethnic and western wear.

Our verdict - Do visit this store if you are shopping for a wedding or a social function. The variety is huge and the price range gives you the flexibility with regard to the budget as well. Well-informed sales executives and classy interiors, add to the shopping experience.
