The Road, a happening pub | Mysore

What you see – The Road, an in-house pub at Hotel Sandesh in Mysore looks like a movie set. The interiors resemble an open road with zebra crossings, tunnels, footpath et al. Vintage bikes and cars that double up as seats are parked at different places. Service staff attired in cowboy clothes completes the overwhelming setup.

What you get – We find a comfortable place to sit next to a Royal Enfield bike. Those who’d rather enjoy a more comfortable seating have sofas with glass top tables and bar stools to choose from.

There’s a cover charge of Rs. 300 for couples and stags (Monday to Thursday). On weekends (Friday to Sunday) it is Rs. 400. Single ladies can walk in free. Like at many other pubs, The Road prefers that stags be accompanied by couples.

The pub serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian multi-cuisine food. The beverage servings include interesting cocktails, mocktails, tequila, vodka, gin, shooters, whisky, brandy, rum and more. Beer guzzlers have the option of ordering pitcher, draught or mug beer. A pitcher of beer would cost around Rs. 500 here and a plate of green salad would come for around Rs. 85. If you would like to try mocktails they have varieties like Honeymoon, Pink Melon Delight, Princess Margaret etc all priced at around Rs. 350. Cocktail lovers have Mojito (Rs. 400), Liit (Rs. 550), Ginsling (Rs. 400) etc to pick from. Foodies can also sample buffet lunch served between 12.45 PM and 3 PM, seven days a week.

Coming to the music, The Road has in-house DJs who play music ranging from hip-hop to club and rock. There are theme-based parties too when popular DJs are invited to play. In fact, the weekends are reserved for such special theme-based nights.

Our verdict – The Road can be rated as one of the best theme-based pubs in Mysore with its awesome interiors, great music and good beverages and food. The weekends see a major rush otherwise you can gain access easily. Because of the high prices and cover charges the crowd here is usually from the upper crust of the society. The service staff is knowledgeable about the options available and provides you with good suggestions. There is ample parking space inside the hotel premises.

Anytime between – 12.45 PM – 3 PM and 7 PM – 11.30 PM
